Welcome to
Freestyle Urban Soccer
Founded in 2010, Freestyle Urban Soccer CIC is a non-profit social enterprise that has a wealth of experience delivering a range of targeted Street Soccer & Urban Sports programmes to socially disadvantaged young people across The North West.

Our Social Enterprise encompasses four areas: Inclusion – Sport – Health –Education as young people often benefit from all four areas of work and by providing these opportunities through a range of diverse projects, we can provide the balance of effective support for young people, develop and enhance community participation, engagement and cohesion with the ability to solve problems for funders, as well as creating bespoke services on demand if required.

OUR VALUES
QUALITY

Our focus will always be around providing a quality experience, be it through our activities, our training or the personal development of our attendees.

EMPOWERING

We enhance & empower our attendees by creating opportunities, develop their skills and build their confidence levels.

COMMITTED

We are committed to providing an impact on the young people at risk of involvement in criminal activity and within the communities we work.

Our Healthy Goalz 4 Life Street Sports Initiative was voted Community Project of the Year for 2018 / 2019 at Chorley Councils Sports Awards and as the winners, we went on to represent Chorley at the prestigious Lancashire Sports Awards due to our initiative being fully inclusive, fun, exciting, educational and delivered FREE throughout Chorley during the evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Due to securing funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, our detached workers can provide FREE drop-in outreach session’s that are aimed at providing positive diversionary activities for young people so we can tackle anti-social behaviour and help attendees improve their physical lifestyles as well as help them learn a number of transferable skills such as communication, tact, diplomacy, teamwork, leadership, stamina, maturity, timekeeping & numeracy and literacy whilst also addressing attitudes towards sexuality, ethnicity and isolation.

Regular attendees see their general Health and Wellbeing increased both physically and mentally and a number of softer outcomes achieved such as confidence, self-esteem, motivation, attitude, community participation, feelings of safety, satisfaction, problem solving, resilience, social cohesion and a sense of achievement all supported by our wrap-around service that also provides knowledge and guidance around health-related issues such as the effects of drugs, alcohol, smoking, bullying, racism and sexual health as our holistic approach looks to hook them on endorphins, not substances.

Having a wide and varied outreach programme is fundamental to our work and by reaching out to the youth in the surrounding areas through the use of local Skate Parks allows us to engage with young people in a variety of locations, most importantly those which are underused due to dark nights and no floodlights.

Our FREE sessions provide young people with a focus and a much-needed structured and supervised activity, but on their terms, this allows us to tackle anti-social behaviour, re-offending and provide that all-important early intervention whilst benefiting young people’s physical health and their social development.

These sessions also provide reassurances to and for the local community members who are looking and wanting more places for young people to meet and more positive activities for young people to do on weekends.

This ever-growing project will see us continue to reach out to the more marginalised communities in and around Lancashire with the use of our mobile floodlights so we can provide an exciting, relevant, healthy and fun way to connect with young people in a positive way.

“Grassroots football. It’s what made every professional player.”
SATURDAY SOCCER ACADEMY
Through the implementation of the England DNA Foundation player pathway, we encourage young players to build on what they have learned and to further their football education playing the beautiful game.

Our sessions are designed to be available to every child regardless of their ability (Beginner or Brilliant) with the sole aim of helping develop and support all our players, boys and girls, by helping them to improve their skills, become more confident and make new friends, all in a happy and safe environment.

We are all missing grassroots football 👟⚽️

So, to get us through we have a 'Stay at Home' Challenge 👍

U7’s - One Bounce Kick ups

The challenge is to see how many times you can bounce kick ups in 1 min.

One bounce one kick up, one bounce one kick up 👟⚽️

Players can use any part of the body and keep scores i.e if the ball bounces twice - stop - restart - continue counting 👍

U8’s + - Kick Ups

The challenge is to see how many kick ups you can do within a 1 min.

Players can use any part of the body and can add up their total scores i.e if the ball hits the ground, stop - restart - continue counting 👍

Please film it, add it on here and at the end nominate one of your friends 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Let’s keep the ball moving 👟⚽️

We at Freestyle Urban Soccer cic have been awarded a grant by national charity Heart Research UK, to encourage over 3,000 school children to increase their physical activity and knowledge around heart health by getting involved in street sports.
Funding through the National Charity Heart Research UK allowed us to engage with 12 primary schools based in Chorley and Coppull so we could provide an early intervention around Heart health with key stage 2 children over an eight-week programme.

By combining Urban Street Sports such as soccer, cricket, non-contact boxing and basketball, with classroom-based learning about healthy eating, nutrition, and the negative effects of smoking, drugs, alcohol and physical inactivity all have on the heart, we engaged with over 3,000 school children.

In addition to the in-school activities, we provided a FREE weeks after school club and provided each school with FREE footballs, basketballs and cricket equipment so they could continues their physical exercise.

Heart Research UK National Director, Barbara Harpham, said:

“This is an innovative way to engage with young people which will hopefully bring great results. By using children’s interests to get them active, they will be able to have fun and socialise whilst learning how to prevent heart disease throughout their lives.”

“Amateur boxing in schools is growing. Boxing encourages discipline, integration and respect, can help combat obesity and promotes anti-bullying messages, which works for pupils. I know – it worked for me” – Amir Khan, Olympic silver medallist

BOXING IN SCHOOL
The ABAE’s Whole Sport Plan aims to increase participation. A growth area for the sport is education, increasing opportunities for pupils and students to try boxing for the first time and then join a club to keep participating. Many schools have seen the benefits of included boxing in the curriculum and or after school activities, particularly with young people at risk of exclusion or in pupil referral units.

The GB Boxing Awards are a fun recreational activity that involves teaching the basics of non-contact amateur boxing to young people such as stance, guard, footwork and all the related punches and defenses.

If you are a school or a youth group interested in developing this programme then please get in touch.

GYM-KIDS
Our aim is to create an environment where children have fun through exercise and we believe that engaging at an early age is vital to ensuring children continue to enjoy the benefits into adulthood.

Our programs are designed to stimulates a healthy and active lifestyle, empower youngsters, support their physical development, confidence and self-esteem and we are one of a few organisations that combines football fitness with mini gym equipment for children so they can burn off their energy at ages 2, 3 and 4.

If you are a pre-schools or nursery interested in developing a GYMKIDS programme then please get in touch.
